Mission 1: Wolves in the Sky

On Thursday, June 27th at 7:00pm, Howling Woods Farm - an educational facility  providing learning experiences to the public about wolves and wolfdogs - will visit the library with two of their wolves! Your question this week is to answer what is the name of the constellation in the shape of a wolf?

Mission 2: Moon Phases

On Wednesday, July 3rd at 5:00pm, we will make our own moon sand at the library!A good CATTStronaut should be able to determine the phase of the moon. Your mission this week is to record some moon phases.

Mission 4: Songs about Space

On Wednesday, July 17th at 5:00pm, the library will host a didgeridoo workshop. The didgeridoo is an instrument that is known for its otherworldly sound.

Mission 5: Written in the Stars

On Wednesday, July 24th at 5:00 pm, Miss Deb will show us a little divination with Tarot cards and astrology! Do you know your zodiac sign? If so, enter it in this mission! If you don't, visit this site and input your birth info to see your entire astrological chart! For fun, enter your moon sign and rising (ascendant) sign too!

Mission 6: Nebulas

Next week, on July 31st at 5:00pm, we are going to create our very own fabulous nebula paintings and/or collages! Cool, right?Your mission this week is to answer a pop culture question. Don't worry - if you aren't familiar with it, you can always use Google!

Mission 7: Zoo Jersey

On Wednesday, August 7th at 5:00pm, Zoo Jersey will visit the library with some of their animals! We don't know what kinds of animals we'll meet, so it should be a fun surprise!Did you know that out of the 88 official constellations, 42 of them are animal constellations?? That's almost half! Your mission this week is to explore some of these constellations, either online or in a book from the library -- look in the non-fiction section under the call number 523.8.Tell me your favorite animal constellation. There's literally no way to get this one wrong! Have fun exploring the skies!

Mission 8: Summer Reading Check-In

On Wednesday, August 14th, we're going to make string art based on the constellations of our zodiac signs. Since we've already covered astrology in these missions, let's talk about what you've been reading this summer! This week, your mission is to tell me a bit about what you've read so far this summer. Don't hold back! I want to know all about it.

Mission 9: Your Final Mission

On Wednesday, August 21st at 5:00pm, we are going to have a yoga instructor come to the library and lead us in some poses that have been transfigured into a Harry Potter theme!Since this is your final mission, I'd like to hear about what you thought about the library's summer reading program! Take a moment to tell me what you liked or didn't like about what the library had to offer! This isn't about books or what you've read. This time, think about your experience of logging your reading, getting prizes, going to programs, etc. Did you think the program was fair? Did you like the prizes? Did you have a favorite library event that you came to over the summer? This is a space for you to tell me anything.

Summit residents who have participated in "Libraries Rock" and are entering Grades 1-12 in September are eligible to receive a free pass to the Summit Family Aquatic Center.  All you have to do is answer the first question, and maybe a bonus question, and visit the library to receive your pool pass!  Don't Forget:  this is for Summit Residents only!

This year, for the 2019 Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program, we have created a little something different: A Digital Escape RoomDo you think you have what it takes to escape?  Take a look and try it out.  If you need help doing it, you can work together with a friend or a grownup.  If you escape, click that you have completed the mission, and get a free small prize of your choice!  

Mission 3: Name That Planet

On Wednesday, July 10th at 5:00pm, the library will host Paul Cirillo, a NASA Ambassador, who will give a presentation called "From Apollo to Tomorrow - What's Next For Human Space Travel?"There used to be nine planets in our solar system, and now there are only eight! Think you can guess which of the eight planets are left? Using the provided clues, guess the correct planet and type your answer below each one. Only correct answers count, so keep trying and name that planet!No need to worry if you guess wrong - you have an unlimited number of guesses for each planet!
